Lesson 3 – The King Decides the Outcome

The outcome of the battle is not determined by the politicians, the strategist, the size of the army… it is decided by the KING..“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matt 24:35).

When I read the stories about Moses, Joshua, Joseph, David, Gideon and many others, I get amazed at how He fulfills his plans, even though we may muck it up with our own thinking. How often God must engineer defeat before He can engineer victory. Sometimes success comes through the back door of failure. Joshua”s battle with the king of Ai is a prime example (Joshua 8:1-35)

Principle: We should not expect God to work the same way or lead us always the same way. We need to be open and sensitive to the various ways God may lead. As the Sovereign God of the universe, He is never limited to one particular method to accomplish His purposes.

James 4 tells us the proper attitude to have:  “Now listen you who say ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business, and make money.’ Why, you don’t even know what will happen tomorrow. …  Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.'” (vv. 13-15, NIV)

James is saying it’s OK to make plans, but just realize that ultimately God has the final word.

The right attitude is to always keep your plans submitted to God.  Make your plans but say, “God, if this is what You want, this is the direction I’m going to go”.

Just like our plans for our YOUNG GUNS EXPOUND program and our forthcoming Kingdom Economic Summit, we will do all that we can to see these things come to fruition, but in the end I know that all is in His hands.
